AMMAM is an independent dvd distributor that creates bold and intelligent documentary compilations that connect original film-makers with a larger audience.
As it stands there are not many opportunities for documentary shorts. Film festivals offer one route but can be expensive and yield little interest in the film-maker's work. Alternately, artists can make their work available for free online which often means trading off on the quality of the viewer's experience and limits an audience to tech-savvy film enthusiasts. Neither routes often end in bringing larger interest to the subject matter at hand.
Through our experience in independent record labels, film finance, the festival process, socially-progressive non-profits, film-making, technology and small theater management, we can anticipate and respond as the industry and audience changes. We believe in making educational information more appealing and experiential through grassroots film-making which because of their smaller scale can have greater impact.
We do not believe that art should be considered charity and strive to make film-making a sustainable and accessible form of activism and communication. |
